Status of Chinese Furniture Exports in 2008
2008-07-29
According to statistics, China's furniture export account for 1/3 of total furniture industry output value . China's furniture exports mainly concentrated in the following 10 provinces (municipalities): Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Jiangsu, Fujian, Shandong, Liaoning, Xinjiang, Tianjin and Beijing. These 10 provinces (municipalities) account for the country's total export value about 96.4 percent.
Before the main Chinese furniture exports to the United States, Southeast Asia and other countries, the United States on China's application of anti-dumping, China sold more furniture to EU, Latin America, Africa, Australia and other places.Greatly seize Italy, Germany, France, Canada and the United States’ Market share. The United States on China's anti-dumping restrictions did not play a role, to the contrary, China has opened up wider to overseas markets.
The first quarter of 2008, China's furniture exports show a downturn state: furniture sell the same period in the domestic market fell about 50 percent and furniture exports fell 60 percent over the same period last year. This was mainly due to inflation, appreciation of RMB, the raw material price hikes and other factors.
Experts predict that 2008 will be a more severe year about market competition and market formation for furniture industry. In addition to panel furniture, sofas and solid wood furniture due to "export, transfer," the impact will be the out of focus in 2008.

08, many export-oriented companies have started to transfer to the domestic market .I think there are 4 reasons:
1, The new "Labor Law" have published. Rising labor costs, raw material prices, the appreciation of the RMB, falling dollar’s exchange rate , so export-oriented companies are getting lower and lower profits.
. 2, Some companies havn’t try from the management, operation, technological innovation and other aspects of cost saving, which in trouble.
3, The role of macro-control. China is lack of resources. In order to ensure the long-term economic development, there can’t be so large exports.
4, Foreign trade for their own protection is also strengthening.

According to the trade law, if the national economy grow eight percent and furniture industry in the growth rate will be around 20 percent . It has show such a situation for several years. With the continuous improvement of living standards for ordinary people, the domestic market demand is still huge, so as long as the furniture companies grasp the right direction, the future market prospects remain broad.
